  • Venus Bay 2nd Beach (300 metres from our doorstep)

    A broad sandy ocean beach that is popular for swimming and surfing.

    There are no toilets at this site but facilities are provided at the nearby Venus Bay No. 1 Beach.

    Note: This beach is not patrolled. Swimmers must be careful as strong currents and rips occur along this section of the coast. Venus Bay No. 1 Beach is patrolled by surf lifesavers during the summer months.

  • The Cavity Restaurant

    The Cavity specializes in locally caught seafood (Corner Inlet / Welshpool / Bass Straight – Baby calamari, scallops, rock flathead, King George whiting, gummy shark, duck fish, flounder, red mullet and snapper), locally raised lamb and beef and imported smallgoods and cheeses, mainly Spanish.

    Dinner, tapas and dessert menus change weekly with produce availability.
    Cakes, biscuits and slices are house made to complement the highly popular Di Stefano brand of coffee.

    The bar provides a full list of spirits, ciders, Australian and New Zealand wine, Australian and imported beers, cocktails, fresh squeezed juices, smoothies and milkshakes at a very affordable price.

  • Point Smythe Nature Trail Venus Bay

    The Point Smythe Nature Trail is 6km in length and remains sheltered even on windy days. Taking approximately 2 hours to complete (return journey) the Point Smythe Walk takes you through masses of coastal vegetation and onto the beach at Point Smythe.

    The walk surface is compacted gravel. The walk has a medium difficulty level. Dogs are restricted from this walk as fox baiting is regulary conducted.

  • Tarwin Lower River and Jetty

    Tarwin Lower is a small community located on the banks of the Tarwin River, 5 kilometres east of the popular coastal resort of Venus Bay and under an hour's drive from the heart of Wilsons Promontory National Park.

  • Townsend Creek Circuit

    A scenic trail over boardwalks and saltmarsh over Screw Creek and up to Townsend Bluff which has views over Anderson Inlet.  The track splits after the bridge at Screw Creek, the left track continues on to fishing platforms and the right track winds up to the Bluff.

  • Cape Liptrap Lighthouse

    The first Cape Liptrap lighthouse was established in 1913. It was a 2.1 metre steel tower with an acetylene light. As a keeper was never stationed at Cape Liptrap, it is really the first automatic Commonwealth funded light to be put into service.

    The current lighthouse was built in 1951 in cast concrete, and is octagonal in shape. It was converted to mains power in 1970.

    The lighthouse is on an isolated point in the Cape Liptrap Coastal Reserve and can be reached via Walkerville.

    Turn into South Walkerville Road then right into the Cape Liptrap Road.

    There is no restriction of access to the reserve.

    Just 30 km from Venus Escapes - Walkerville, famous for its historic Lime Kilns, is one of Prom Country's hidden delights. Spend hours exploring the coastline of rock pools and little sandy coves, enjoy walking, fishing, swimming or simply relaxing.

  • Wilsons Promontory Marine National Park

    Wilsons Promontory National Park is on a peninsula southeast of Melbourne, Australia. It’s known for its rugged granite mountains and abundant wildlife, including kangaroos and wombats. Trails from the Tidal River settlement lead to Squeaky Beach, with its white quartz sand. Nearby, Mount Oberon offers views of Bass Strait and offshore islands. Wilsons Promontory Lightstation, built in 1859, is on the southern coast.

  • Agnes Falls

    At 59 metres, Agnes Falls are the highest single span falls in Victoria.

    A short 200 metre walking track leads from the carpark to a viewing area overlooking the falls. Along the way watch for birds darting between bushes and the diverse range of vegetation present. Rest on the seats provided and enjoy the view within the gorge.

    Agnes Falls Scenic Reserve protects a small remnant of the forests that once covered the Strzelecki Ranges. Tall Southern Blue Gums together with Blackwood and Silver Wattles grow within the sheltered gorge and along the banks of the Agnes River. The cool moist conditions here support a diverse understorey fo Hazel Pomaderris, Blanket-Leaf, Dogwood, Prickly Moses, Clematis and a ground cover of ferns.

    The drier north facing slope and ridge support an open understorey of native grasses and sedges.

    The Agnes Falls Scenic Reserve provides habitat to support many different species of birds. The canopy of tall eucalypts provides food and nesting areas for a variety of birds including honeyeaters. The understorey composed of tall shrubs and small trees is home to the Eastern Yellow Robin. Watch for the playful antics of the Grey Fantail as it darts and spirals in and out of trees in its quest for food. The forest also echoes to the calls of the Laughing Kookaburra, Currawong and Crimson Rosella.

  • Waratah Hills Vineyard

    Waratah Hills is located on the road to the iconic Wilsons Promontory National Park Waratah Hills is one of the southern most vineyards on the Australian mainland. The cool, maritime climate wine region is acknowledged as one of the best Pinot Noir producing areas in Australia.

    Owners’ Judy and Neil Travers simple philosophy is to do everything possible to produce wine of the highest quality. Their artisan approach to detail involves hand picking by clones in small batches at just the right intensity of ripeness. Come and experience some of south Gippslands finest wines and treat yourself to lunch at our cellar door.

  • Basia Mille Vineyard & Olive Grove

    Basia Mille Vineyard and Olive Grove  is situated on Waratah Ridge, only ten minutes drive from Fish Creek. The vineyard was awarded a Bronze Medal for its 2007 Pinot Noir. The vineyard produces its signature Pinot Grigio and in 2012 has served a sparkling for the first time. 
    Basia Mille also produces a delicious Extra Virgin Olive Oil which is also for sale. 
    The cellar is licenced to serve you wine, local cheeses and olive oil.
    Cellar door opening times:
    Our cellar door is open during July and August on Saturday afternoons from 1 until 4pm
    From September to December, the cellar is open on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as public holidays from 12 until 5pm. From December 26 to the end of January, we are open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and Public holidays from 12 until 5pm.
    We serve lovely light lunches in the cellar.
